USL Championship
Brooklyn v Birmingham
2.15 - 3.50 - 2.90
A first-ever meeting between these two sides currently looking outside the playoff picture at the moment. For the hosts, Brooklyn are off the back of two consecutive defeats where they failed to score, a first for the club since March of this season. It’s left them eight points behind the playoff cutline. However for Birmingham, the side ended a nine match winless run in the league with a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island last week, and keeping them within range of the playoffs just four points behind eighth. Still though, in spite of the win, that was the tenth game where Birmingham have yet to score over 1.5 team goals in the match in the league. For Brooklyn, they return home looking for their first win at Maimonides Park since April, as Birmingham have just one win away from home all season (coming back in May).
Of their last ten games, eight of those scorelines for Birmingham were under 2.5 total goals, while Brooklyn has seen six of their last ten games go over 2.5 total goals, but none of their last four home games has seen over 2.5 total goals for the New York club. As their gap to a playoff spot continues to slip away, I am going to keep fading Brooklyn, but I’m not sure I see the offense in either side for this to be a grand display of goals tomorrow night.
Bet 1: Under 2.5 total goals, Birmingham win or draw (3.00)
Lexington v Phoenix
1.80 - 3.60 - 4.00
Two teams bringing three match unbeaten runs into this game, Lexington the better of the two in that time with two wins and a draw to Phoenix’s two draws and a win. The West has been an incredibly tight playoff race all season, and Lexington are currently above the cutline with Phoenix below, all due to recent runs of form. Last week, Lexington had a come from behind win over Monterey Bay, after having trailed 2-0 after a half hour, to win it 3-2. Phoenix meanwhile made two draws in a row for the first time since March, as well as going now four games without a win on the road. In a rarity, Phoenix is actually one team Lexington has performed against rather well, winning both of their games played against Rising last season (each in win to nil scorelines). I think I am slowly getting onboard the Lexington hype train, especially at home as Lexington has lost just one of their last five home games (winning the other four, and scoring multiple goals in those four wins as well). Picking the hosts to win and score multiple goals once more.
Bet 1: Draw at halftime (2.30)
Bet 2: Lexington ML, Lexington over 1.5 team goals (2.20)
Loudoun v Charleston
3.50 - 3.60 - 1.90
For the first time since September 2025, Loudoun have won two consecutive games in the league, and have won these last two games in win to nil fashion no less. I’ve mentioned previously how it’s been a frustrating season for the Virginia club, but that I still thought they could turn a corner very soon (especially given that they remain just three points behind a playoff spot). Charleston meanwhile had a 5-0 dominating win over Brooklyn last week, ending a three match winless skid the team was on. It was the Battery’s highest margin of victory since October 2025, and the third time this season Charleston has scored five team goals in a game. This is the Battery club we thought we would see more often this season, as they lead the league in goals.
Charleston carry a 13 match unbeaten run against Loudoun into this match, with their last loss to Loudoun coming in October 2019 (just as Joker (2019) was hitting theaters). The Battery have scored in each of those 13 games, and scored multiple goals in nine of those games versus Loudoun (including their last three). While I like the hosts having improved in recent weeks, Charleston is about to go another nice run of form I believe.
Bet 1: Charleston ML (1.90)
Bet 2: Charleston to score in both halves (2.75)
Miami v Las Vegas
2.35 - 3.40 - 2.45
This used to be USL’s silliest “derby” (and maybe it still is) as both teams are known for the strange promotion or “meme-ability” of their existence. But this year is different, Miami are a current playoff contender in the East currently tied on 22 points for the sixth best record in the conference, while Las Vegas in the West are hunting down a playoff spot themselves, a win away from joining the top eight if other results go their way. Since joining USLC, Miami has never made the postseason, their last playoff game of any kind coming in NISA where they beat Stumptown Athletic (LOL) 3-0 in that 2019/20 final. Las Vegas are looking for just their second playoff appearance as a club and would be their first since 2024.
Entering this match, Las Vegas are unbeaten in their last four games played in the league, their best streak since October 2024. Though Miami were moments away from three points against Detroit, they remain winless in their last three games in the league. But, the last time Las Vegas visited South Beach, April 2023, Miami walked out as visitors 4-1, so this is not an easy road trip to make for the Lights. In spite of the results, it does feel like Miami are nearly there and have just been unlucky in recent weeks that I think the luck this week will change. The odds are even towards both sides in this game, but I think the hosts are the ones to get the result (especially since this is another series in the league that has never seen the road team win).
Bet: Miami win or draw, BTTS - Yes (2.15)
Pittsburgh v Sacramento
2.10 - 3.20 - 3.00
One game you’re beating Jacksonville 5-0, the next, you’re losing 1-0 to Tulsa away, but such was the week for Sacramento Republic after their midweek Wednesday result. The loss on Wednesday ended a four match unbeaten run for Republic as they now venture further east to take on Pittsburgh at FNB Stadium, in just their second visit to the stadium (most recently was July 2023 where a 0-0 draw was played out). For Pittsburgh, they won 1-0 over another California club last time out, Oakland, which was their first road win since May 9th. However, they return home to a stadium that should be a fortress, having lost their last two home games. Pittsburgh has not lost three consecutive home games since July 2024. But Sacramento has not done well in these cross-country road trips, as they have not beaten an Eastern Conference team in a road game since September 2025 (Tampa Bay 2-0). I do believe this game will be a low-scoring contest, and will be picking the hosts to get back to winning ways and avoiding losing three home games in a row.
Bet 1: Pittsburgh ML (2.10)
Bet 2: Draw at halftime, Under 2.5 total goals in game (2.70)
Rhode Island v Colorado Springs
2.05 - 3.30 - 3.30
Rhode Island’s scoring has gone cold in recent weeks, despite having two wins in this span, they have not scored over 1.5 team goals in any of their last five games, and by no surprise that streak caught up with them as they lost 1-0 against Birmingham last week. Colorado Springs had a 1-0 defeat themselves last week away at New Mexico, which ended a three match winning streak for the Switchbacks. While Rhode Island has been in the headlines lately for news off the pitch, it will be interesting to see how much that distraction may play on the team (likely little effect but the thought lingers). One benefit in Rhode Island’s favor is that Colorado Springs have been woeful away from home this season, the second worst road record in the West this season (though they have won two of their last three road games). But my concern will be if Rhode Island can generate any level of offense for themselves, especially as the Switchbacks are averaging one goal in each of their last three road games. Still, you have to imagine the hosts can score in this one.
Bet 1: Draw (3.30)
Bet 2: BTTS - Yes (1.72)
Bet 3: Rhode Island 1-1 Colorado Springs correct scoreline bet (6.50)
Louisville v San Antonio
1.44 - 4.00 - 6.50
Oh Louisville, that’s so unfortunate. It’s rare this season to find a team who could put Tampa Bay on the ropes in a match, but Louisville were leading 3-0 away at Al Lang at halftime last week, it looked like that was the game that would finally cement Simon Bird’s status as a manager without question marks (or as many questions) with that win. But after conceding five second half goals (including three in the span of five minutes to be tied 3-3 by 54’) to lose the game 5-4 against Tampa Bay, we are left with more worries and questions for Louisville City. Hosting a San Antonio team challenging for the Western Conference’s top spot, in a rematch of the 2022 USLC final, might not be the best recovery game for Louisville. San Antonio are back to winning ways after a 3-1 win last week, winning consecutive matches for the first time since March. San Antonio have also won their last two road games as well, a first since March 2025.
Louisville are still in the top four (at the moment) of the East so a home playoff game is still within reach, but Pittsburgh are close behind if the Kentucky club were to slip up again, but Louisville are back to winning ways at Lynn Family Stadium, having won their last two home games. This match is one two matches I have my eye on this weekend for their intriguing storylines surrounding it, so let’s hope the game delivers.
Bet 1: BTTS - Yes, Over 2.5 total goals (2.30)
Bet 2: San Antonio win or draw halftime (1.80)
Tulsa v Detroit
2.62 - 2.90 - 2.50
Under 2.5 total goals. If you bet anything on this game, take under 2.5 total goals. For Detroit, they’re averaging 2.47 total goals a game this season, for Tulsa, it’s a Western Conference low 2.12 total goals a game. That was the case from Wednesday where Tulsa defeated Sacramento 1-0, making it four matches unbeaten and their last four games being BTTS - No scorelines characterized by four clean sheets from the Oklahoma club. Tulsa have played 6.5 hours of soccer since their last conceded goal—or enough time to watch the entirety of the Star Wars Original Trilogy. For Detroit, they played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Miami last week but a bit more worryingly, Detroit have now gone back-to-back games without a win for the first time since June 10th, and they getting ready to face a Tulsa team they have never beaten before in five previous meetings. Have to back the hosts here—and with these odds, Tulsa ML might be all we need.
Bet 1: Tulsa win to nil (4.33)
Bet 2: Under 2.5 total goals (1.61)
Bet 3: Draw at halftime (2.00)
El Paso v Oakland
1.85 - 3.50 - 3.30
The wheels really have fallen off for Oakland in recent weeks. While their 0-0 draw with Las Vegas on Wednesday helped end their four match losing streak, the Roots still have not won any of their last five league games played and have been shutout in three of their last four games. Continuing this road trip is a visit to El Paso, who are off the back of a 1-0 win over Monterey Bay also on Wednesday of this week. Tied on points with Lexington for the final playoff spot, Locomotive’s form is starting to improve now with two wins from their last three games played (both win to nil results). Also to mention, the last four El Paso matches have had BTTS - No scorelines (though El Paso only winning two of those four games), and given how much Oakland has struggled in scoring of late, this could be a low-scoring contest (those four games all being under 2.5 total goals for El Paso as well).
The last four meetings of these two teams has seen the home team get the result (Oakland’s 3-2 win over El Paso away in April 2024 being the last time a visiting team won a game in this series). While Oakland has controlled this series all-time with six wins from ten total meetings, I am leaning the way of the hosts to get the result out of this one as the attacking woes deepen for the Roots.
Bet 1: Under 2.5 total goals (2.20)
Bet 2: El Paso win or tie, BTTS - No (3.00)
Monterey Bay v New Mexico
2.15 - 3.40 - 2.80
One of my favorite matchups in USLC, solely because of how similar these teams’ crests look to each other. New Mexico are well and truly back, having extended their winning streak to now four in a row after a 1-0 win over Colorado Springs last week (their first win to nil scoreline since June). Away from home, New Mexico’s results have been more middle of the road (3 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses) but categorized by low-scoring games (7 goals scored and allowed). I am officially back in fading Monterey Bay until further notice as the California club have now lost four games in a row and are winless in five, after their 1-0 defeat on Wednesday (which was also their first time being shutout since July 4th). With New Mexico in red hot form and Monterey Bay headed in the other direction, surely it’s a slam dunk to take New Mexico here, right?
However, in the all-time history of this series, the road team has yet to win a match in ten previous meetings. New Mexico has visited Monterey Bay five times and it’s resulted in three defeats and two draws, and NMU has not scored multiple goals in any of those games. But surely given the run of form New Mexico are on, and these specific odds, this is a game New Mexico should be winning right? Well, maybe we go for the trap game play here. (Although New Mexico as underdogs might indicate the books are onto this game).
Bet: Monterey Bay win or draw, BTTS - Yes (2.00)
Orange County v Tampa Bay
3.75 - 3.75 - 1.80
This game has to be the “main event” of the weekend and possibly a preview of the USLC final perhaps. A rematch of the 2021 USLC final as Tampa Bay—fresh off of their massive come from behind win over Louisville where they scored five second half goals to win 5-4—make the trek across the country to face Western Conference #1 seed currently, Orange County. Best in the East versus Best in the West. Orange County made it back-to-back wins last week for the first time since June 24th. OCSC also extended their home unbeaten run to four games (despite having a long road trip during the month of June that may have derailed much of their progress). Tampa Bay are unbeaten on the road this season, having not lost away from home since October 2025, but if there is any team that can beat the Rowdies, it might very well be the best side the West has to offer.
Orange County has not trailed at halftime of any of their last 16 games played, which may give them an initial edge to open this match, and both teams have nearly identical total goals averages (2.89 for Tampa Bay to 2.67 for Orange County). If there is a winner, it may be from a 2-1 scoreline, but which way are we leaning? Honestly, I could see this game being a cagey affair to start, a low-scoring first half, before it really opens up in the second half and I just have a good feeling about this Rowdies side after last week.
Bet 1: Draw halftime (2.20)
Bet 2: Tampa Bay ML (1.80)
Bet 3: Tampa Bay to score first (1.61)
Correct score wagers:
Orange County 0-0 Tampa Bay halftime (3.00)
Orange County 1-2 Tampa Bay fulltime (9.00)
Indy Eleven v Hartford
1.83 - 3.50 - 3.75
We close out our USLC weekend slate of matches with the team currently holding the final spot in the East’s playoff picture, Indy Eleven, hosting the side just on the other side in ninth, Hartford. Both sides have gone through rather poor runs of form as of late, Indy Eleven having lost four games in a row for the first time since August 2025, and Hartford having no wins in their last six games in the league while having not scored a goal in the last 4.5 hours of match play (or enough time to watch both Spider-Verse movies in their entirety). While fading both teams has been the play for us as of late, what happens when “the stoppable force meets the movable object?”
Indy Eleven have gone unbeaten in the last seven games played against Hartford, and perhaps being back at home (where Indy have only lost once all season) is playing to their strengths. However, Hartford does have the second best record away from home in the East this season (admittedly everyone outside of Tampa Bay in the East has been rather poor on the road), so this opponent might not be the easy outing for Indy Eleven. But surely this game needs to be a win for Indy Eleven, not just to keep their unbeaten run against Hartford, but just to stop me from finding the panic button on this team.
Bet 1: Indy Eleven ML (1.83)
Bet 2: Indy Eleven to score first, Under 1.5 Hartford team goals (1.95)
USL1
Charlotte v Greenville
1.55 - 4.00 - 4.50
Greenville has not been the reliable fade as we are used to seeing them this season as of late, as the Triumph have put together consecutive games unbeaten for the first time since July 8th in recent weeks (with each game going over 4.5 total goals impressively!). That statline for goals alone, against the high-scoring Charlotte Independence makes this game immediately one for over 2.5 total goals (and it might even occur all before halftime). Charlotte won 3-1 over Knoxville last week, making the Independence the “leader in waiting” behind Omaha as it stands (just two points back in the table). The Independence will be looking to make it three wins in a row for the first time since July 1st with a result tomorrow. Charlotte has won eight games at home across nine played all season, and it honestly would be foolish to bet against this Independence team right now.
But if you can grab BTTS - Yes wagers on this game, take that (in addition to our over 2.5 total goals bet).
Bet: Charlotte ML, Over 2.5 total goals (2.15)
Chattanooga v Omaha
2.25 - 3.50 - 2.60
The two sides currently holding the first and final playoff spot in the table at the moment. For Omaha, the current league leaders, they are on an unbeaten run of four games entering this weekend and have won their last two road games, a first for the club to win consecutive games away from home since May. The Nebraska side will be looking to win three road games in a row for the first time since June 2025. On the other side, Chattanooga had their match against Spokane postponed last week due to weather, but they do still have an unbeaten run at home of their last four home games being victories (all in win to nil scorelines too). CHI Memorial Stadium has not been an easy place to visit for many teams, but the Red Wolves have lost twice at home this season and for Omaha, the league’s second best team away from home this season, that might be the opening.
I would not expect Omaha to be leading at the break though, as they have only won a first half once in their last 15 games, with Chattanooga leading at half of just one of their last 7 games (halftime draw penciled in), but I just think Omaha are about to hit a rather good run of form in the coming weeks to confirm themselves as the Players’ Shield favorites once more.
Bet 1: Draw at halftime (2.30)
Bet 2: Omaha draw no bet (2.00)
NY Cosmos v Spokane
4.75 - 3.80 - 1.55
The Cosmos are a complete mess at the moment, and a 2-0 defeat to a resurgent Richmond team on Wednesday did not help matters, as it extended a winless run for the team to four games. Spokane had their match against Chattanooga last week postponed due to rain, so they still carry a three game winning streak in the league into this match and two of those games have been matches going over 2.5 total goals (with Spokane scoring multiple goals in all three of those wins). With the Cosmos having the league’s leakiest defense with 40 goals conceded, I have to imagine Spokane will take advantage of this opportunity. But how much scoring do you expect this Cosmos team to do, especially against Spokane’s defense having just conceded 22 goals on the year? That will be what drives the 2.5 total goals line. Keeping it simple otherwise.
Bet: Spokane ML (1.55)
Portland v Corpus Christi
2.05 - 3.40 - 3.00
While the news of the stadium plans for Portland will dominate the headlines this midweek, Hearts of Pine on the pitch has been unable to translate the positive momentum off the field into results, winless in their last three games in the league (each game going over 2.5 goals however). A concern for Portland has been that they have scored the opening goal in each of those games only to let the three points slip away from them (the seven points dropped in this time would put Portland into a playoff spot). This might very well be the reason Hearts of Pine are not in a playoff spot come the Fall. Corpus Christi has been quietly on a decent run of form, unbeaten in their last four games in the league with three consecutive clean sheets entering this game (no goals conceded in their last 5.5 hours, or enough time to watch 82% of first three Matrix movies).
However, I am backing the hosts to get a goal in this match to end that clean sheet streak from Corpus Christi, but this really needs to be a game Portland wins or else we might very well be looking back at games like these as a reason they are not in a playoff spot at season’s end.
Bet 1: Portland ML (2.05)
Bet 2: Portland to score first (1.72)
Knoxville v Sarasota
1.60 - 3.60 - 4.75
Should I be worried about Knoxville? For the first time since 2024, the club has lost three games in a row in the league, which has now seen them tumble out of the top three (being replaced by Madison). But is this match against a Sarasota team who has not played a game in any competition since July 11th the possible cure for Knoxville? Due to scheduling and rain postponement last week, this game will be Sarasota’s first in four weeks. While the break may have been good for injury recovery and rest, I imagine it has to be frustrating for Sarasota Paradise, team and fans alike, to see the season interrupted in such way—especially since the club finds themselves without a win since June 13th and 10 points outside of a playoff spot.
I am looking at this match very cautiously in regards to Knoxville, as a slip up in this game might be cause to find my panic button the team as of late. But surely they can’t let a team who has not a played a game in nearly a month, come into Covenant Health Park and get a win, right?
Bet 1: Knoxville to score first (1.53)
Bet 2: Knoxville win or draw first half, Knoxville ML (1.66)
Boise v Madison
2.10 - 3.25 - 3.00
Madison just keeps winning, that’s now six games in a row in the league (and a further eight games since their last loss in the league). Is this the greatest time to be a Forward Madison fan? What has impressed me about Madison in each of these results is that they have scored multiple goals in six of their last seven wins during this unbeaten run, and they have scored first in each of the eight games of this unbeaten run. What kicked off this unbeaten run of form, was a 5-1 win over their opponents this week, Boise (back on June 13th).
Boise has seen their recent three game winning streak run flat once more, as they have gone winless in their last two games played, a streak they had not had since May of this season. But is being back at home this week enough to end Madison’s long unbeaten run and exact some revenge for the loss that started such a good Summer for Madison? On four occasions, Boise has lost at home (most recently coming at the start of July against Knoxville). As Madison has thrown their hat into the ring for possibly hosting a home playoff game and maybe even challenging for the Shield, I think momentum is on the side of the visitors here. Backing Madison until they let me down!
Bet 1: Madison ML (3.00)
Bet 2: Over 2.5 total goals (1.80)
AV Alta v Fort Wayne
No odds as of writing
And there’s my doubts over AV Alta coming back to focus, as the club took a 2-1 defeat against Naples on Wednesday. Now, perhaps the the long travel AV Alta has been on this week complicated things, as they lost 3-2 to Richmond last Saturday preceding the defeat to Naples. But with Naples having lost seven consecutive games prior to beating AV Alta, the optics for AV Alta were not great. Fort Wayne themselves have lost three of their last four games, including having lost their last two road games—especially crucial since AV Alta has lost just once at home all season in the league, which occurred back in April. I have to imagine after a long week of travel, being back in friendlier surroundings will be welcomed for AV Alta. Though Fort Wayne are one of the league’s better road teams in terms of record, the hosts should be up for this match back in front of their home support.
Bet 1: AV Alta to score first
Bet 2: AV Alta draw no bet

Final Thoughts
As mentioned above during their match preview, Portland Hearts of Pine announced this week their intention to build a new, soccer stadium set to have a capacity of 11k and opening in 2029. Hearts of Pine has been doing everything off the pitch in building this club as a blueprint to follow for any USL team, and this stadium is another impressive step in that process. This stadium will become another jewel of a ground for the league.
In USL articles that caught my eye this week: Luke Martin’s latest article talking about when Jeopardy is shown on tv (and which network holds the rights) in each USL1 market was a delightful read!
